01Adopt a cat
A home for an animal from Zanzibar.
Adopting from Zanzibar is possible, but not easy. Rescue Paws of Zanzibar e. V. does not carry out adoptions itself. But we connect you with the right people on site and support you with the first steps.

02To be honest
Possible, but not easy.
Adopting a cat or dog from Zanzibar is possible in principle. It is not easy: an adoption takes effort, preparation and money, and it takes time.
Sadly, many of our cats have very little chance of a home of their own. It does not happen regularly that someone in Germany or another country simply adopts a cat from Zanzibar.
For many animals the chance only comes when holidaymakers find an animal during their trip, fall in love and decide to take it home. That is how it was with Paka. All the more special when one of our animals really does find a home.
What costs to expect: it varies a lot, but you should plan for at least around €500. That covers the export papers, the necessary vaccinations, the rabies blood test, a transport box and the flight. It makes a difference whether the cat travels in the hold (cargo, usually more expensive) or in the cabin with a flight sponsor. We neuter the animals beforehand, and they only travel once they are perfectly fit.

03Adoption
Who is still waiting for a home?
We will introduce the animals currently looking for a home here soon.
Not every animal at the shelter is looking for a new home. As soon as it is clear who is to be adopted, you can meet them here. Until then, feel free to get in touch already.
04The process
